LIGHTHOUSES OF KNOWLEDGE Towers of Education & Light for the World

Lighthouses of Knowledge” is a permanent art installation created by world-renowned public artist, Horst Glasker.  The work is a colorful ornamentation of towers at the University Duisburg-Essen, Essen, Germany.

Glasker used a powder coating on the aluminum tower exteriors to color them in bright pastel stripes.  His artwork celebrates humanity by infusing color into the public sphere that is so often a dull grey cement landscape.

What is most important to me is the creative act, making a situation come alive.  This process invariably relates to space, to time, and to rhythm.”
