As Gábor M. Szőke’s largest artwork, The Falcon is the largest free-standing avian sculpture in the world. Weighing in at over 73,000 pounds, the bird is 41.5-foot tall and has a wingspan of more than 64 feet.

On February 3rd, 2019, thousands of people will descend upon the city of Atlanta, and millions more will tune in from across the globe, to watch Super Bowl LIII. The host site will be the new Mercedes-Benz Stadium, and on display will be the iconic Atlanta Falcon Sculpture by the world-renowned artist, Gábor M.Szőke. If you are anywhere near the 30313 zip code the first weekend of February, then do yourself a favor and be sure to stop by and take a photo beneath this colossal structure. You will not be disappointed. This piece has quickly become Szőke’s most famous work, which was put in place and on display for the grand opening of the two million-square-foot entertainment venue.

Gábor M. Szőke was commissioned by the Atlanta Falcons to make a one-of-a-kind installation. “I was really inspired that your city was burned down and rose up every time,” Szoke said. “It’s not just about power, it’s also about belief,” Szoke said of what he wanted the statue to convey. “That belief is very important for the Atlanta community.” Even in a venue with numerous artworks and state-of-the-art features, this piece stands out. The sculpture is made up of over 1,000 pieces of stainless steel and clutches a 13-foot football made of bronze. The piece took over a year to design and construct, built in sections of four pieces in Budapest, and then shipped for assembly to Atlanta.

“I have always liked to spark a reaction, to think in monumental dimensions, to conquer new spaces with my animals and creatures, to bring them to life.”

Gábor M. Szőke is known for his public animal sculptures and he has nearly 100 works on three continents. His creations are predominantly made of wood and stainless steel and are on display in Washington DC, Gstaad, Milan, Rome, Munich, Vienna, Moscow, Nizhny Novgorod, Zagreb, Samorin, Oradea, Budapest and many other cities worldwide. Social responsibility and engagement are important to him, and these issues are common subjects in his art. Because of his shared philosophy of art and design, as well as his knack and ability for oversized art installations, Gábor M. Szőke made the perfect addition to Di Bari & Associates.
